For the past few weeks I've noticed a bit of a difference in the texture of A's hair. She's always had a few different hair textures but particularly in the center of her head, it seems like the curl pattern is getting looser. I'm not sure if it's the weight of the curls pulling it down or what but either way, it makes wearing her hair out a challenge.
I hardly ever let A wear her hair completely out other than braid outs or twist outs. She's extremely rough on her hair. At any given minute she's doing a head stand or throwing a blanket over her head pretending to be a ghost. Leaving her hair out can be well... quite disastrous. Now that she's 5, she wants to be a big girl more than ever and to her, that means wearing her hair down. Lets all hold hands together and pray her hair isn't one big knot by the end of the day today. lol.
This morning I washed her hair with Shea Moisture's African Black Soap shampoo and conditioned with Aussie Moist conditioner. I detangled small sections and applied Little Miss Fuzzy Head (which we won from the awesome Girly and Curly!) to each section and ran the Denman brush through slowly to evenly distribute the product. The scent of that stuff is beyond amazing, it's almost like a light perfume but not too overpowering. The texture is nice and smooth as well. Although A has quite a few different hair textures going on, the LMFH was still able to tame the frizz and define each and every curl. *Her hair is still pretty damp in all of these pictures*
This is just a little bonus pic of some crazy shrinkage! I tucked in her shirt right at her waist band so you could see how much length this crazy kid has!
And just for fun...

I've been fighting the idea of whether I want to cut Man's hair or not into a mohawk. I love his hair long and I love him with braids but sometimes I just think he'd look SO cute with a mohawk. Anywho, on this one particular day my hands were only inches from the scissors when I just decided to use that creativity to braid it instead. About an hour later, we had a cute style that lasted us well over a week!
These pics are from the day after so the back is laying weird from him sleeping on them uncovered.
I can't believe this sweet little boy will be 3 in July. This little comedian is a trip, his faces are priceless. =)

My sweet girl, I can not believe that today you are turning 5! You're a crazy kid and you drive me insane on the regular but I could never imagine my life without you. Your laughter is contagious, your smile is heartwarming, and your presence is pure joy.
I hope you continue to be the free spirit that you are and let your hair fly in the wind without a care. I hope you always do what you like because you like it, not because anyone else does. You are wise beyond your years little one, but I already think you know that. You are sharp, creative, and sassy and I wouldn't change you one bit.
I hope your birthday is just as magical as you thought it would be!
We love you bunches!
P.S. We still kept up with our tradition of cake for breakfast for the birthday kid. =) I might have slaved away at this cake until 1:30 this morning but the look on her face when she seen it was absolutely priceless. (see 2nd photo in birthday collage.)
